Wanted: The Perfect Pet

The book “Wanted: The Perfect Pet” by Fiona Roberson is about a boy named Henry that wanted a dog. And there was also a duck that wanted a friend. (Just like me, I’m making connections…) But one day, the duck saw an advertisement the boy made for the perfect pet, so the duck decides to dress up as dog, but the boy soon finds out. At the end they become friends, and the boy realises that he is the perfect pet, even though he’s not a dog. The connection I made was, I also want a dog really bad, and I’ve been begging for one for so long, but alas, by parents said no. I still like to think they are going to surprise me one day with one though. I mean, you never know.  I liked this book overall and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a story about friendship.

The Noisy Paint Box

“The Noisy Paint Box: The Colours and Sounds of Kandinsky’s Abstract Art” is an imaginative book written by Barb Rosenstock and illustrated by Mary Grandpre’. It is about a boy with a paint box, and he could hear colours, and growing up, no one appreciated his art because everyone likes to be traditional things, and not abstract. I feel like sometimes I’m not accepted sometimes, because of my age, and in dance. People didn’t like me at first, and didn’t accept me. But soon after making a few friends, I began to make more, and less people started judging me, and more people accepted who I am, and soon I became friends with a bunch of people I didn’t like. Overall I really liked this book, and I think it tells us a great story about being accepted in certain things, and even though you don’t think that you are good enough because other people don’t think you are, you do what you think is right.

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

“The boy who harnessed the wind” by the boy himself William Kam Kwamba, and Bryan Mealer is about a boy named William who lived in Africa. His family was wealthy, and they’d eat 3 meals a day, and William even went to school. But one day, the crops started to grow into sand, and his father told him that he could only eat one meal a day. Soon a few days after, he said that he was not allowed to go to school. William was devastated, so he walked to a near by library that was donated to his town from Americans. He picked out a few science books with lots and lots of pictures, and he sat down with his English dictionary to translate, and read it. He found out about many inventions but one of them that caught his eye was a windmill, he learned about the uses and wanted to build one. He got metals, and junk from the trash, and bystanders laughed and mocked him. But soon with the help of his best friend, and cousin, they soon build a windmill that could power a light bulb. He was discovered by a journalist, and got on a plane, and went to the show Ted talks. People were touched by his story and donated to him, to make more windmills to help his town. Soon he went to collage, one of the best ones in America, to study engineering. Overall this story was amazing, and it teaches me to work harder, and to be very grateful for what I have.

After The Fall:How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again

The book “After The Fall:How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again” is about Humpty Dumpty after the fall. He is not allowed to sleep on the top bunk, or sit on the wall with the birds, or climb up the ladder to reach the “good” cereal, because they are all on the top shelf.  But he wasn’t about to give up. He wanted to be able to soar with the birds, so he decided to make a plane for him to fly. I worked, but again, accidents happen. So he tried again, and decided to climb up the ladder. He did, and then he finally could be up with the birds. This story has taught me to keep trying even though you think tht hope is lost. Overall this story was amazing, even though I’ve read it before.

There

“There” by Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick is about a child around the age of 4 imagining what it would be like if they were grown up, and he is a really curious boy. Imagining about dragons, and when he wants to  grown up. This book was kinda confusing though, I didn’t really get the main idea of it. I thought I was about dying at first, which is not really the point of it, until my classmates explained it to me. All in all, this book was okay, but I still don’t get the meaning of it.

The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau

“The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jacques Cousteau” is about an inventor who loved the sea. I’ve read a book called wake, and it was about a girl who loved the sea, and they both loved spending time with it. Cousteau wanted everyone to know what the sea looked like, so he began inventing things, and making films. He was had a very famous documentary that was about him going underwater, and filming all the exotic animals there were underwater. There are also many things about pollution in the world right now, and in that time period Cousteau started to notice that.  The ocean is getting very polluted right now. All in all this was a very good book, and taught us a lot about how you have to work hard, and do the things you love.

Enemy Pie

“Enemy Pie” by Derek Munson, and illustrated by Tara Calahan King is about a boy, and he was having the best summer ever. Until another boy named Jeremy Ross came to town, and he started ruining the boy’s summer. His dad told him to give him enemy pie. And he also had to spend a whole day with him. Something very surprising about Joanna and I, was that we used to be worst enemies. We’d gossip about each other in primary grades, even though our moms were best friends, and we were supposed to like each other. So we started playing together in school one day, and I realized, maybe Joanna wasn’t so bad after all. We shared a lot in common, and in grade 3 we started being best friends! There’s also a book that reminded me of this too. It’s called “On the fence” by Kasie West. This book is more of a romantic type, and people who weren’t friends before became friends.  Online, everyone’s always telling you to make new friends, even if you think it won’t work out. And I agree. All in all, this book has a very strong message, and I liked it a lot.

Sir Cumference, and the Dragon Of Pi: A Math Adventure

Sir Cumference, and the Dragon Of Pi, is about Radius, and his father Sir Cumference getting turned into a dragon. Radius is trying to find a cure, and he sees that you need the exact measurements of the diameter times the circumference, to make the measurement. He quickly starts measuring, and he is having the same answer every single time. Then he went to his father and spooned 3 and one seventh of a spoon. I liked this book, and the message is about how to find pi. It is a really fun book, and I liked it a lot.

Kindness Post #5

This is the last and final post, so this one has to be good right? I think this was one of my favorite ones. Today I was at home doing the chores, and my homework, then my brother needed help with something in his project. I was willing to help him, and I think he appreciated it a lot.
